Collection: Bits

The Hanging Cheek Snaffle offers slightly more poll pressure than a standard snaffle while maintaining a soft, sympathetic contact. The copper lozenge mouthpiece encourages salivation and jaw relaxation, helping horses to accept the bit and work through more freely.A popular choice for horses in early or remedial training, or those that tend to lean or hang on the contact. The hanging cheek creates a mild lifting action that can encourage horses to soften and come onto the bit more willingly.Available in 5" and 5.5". Note: bits are non-returnable for hygiene reasons.

Also known as a continental bit, it raises the bit in the horse's mouth like a traditional gag, but without the same severity. The reins can be attached to the snaffle ring, or the lower ring for increased poll pressure and leverage, or two reins or roundings on a single rein can be used to keep a correct contact on the snaffle ring when needed. An anatomical copper lozenge in the centre spreads pressure over the tongue and bars and encourages mouthing and contact. Copper is a warm metal that encourages salivation. Ideal for horses that need extra braking power when jumping or doing fast work. Sizes: 5" and 5.5" Anatomical copper lozenge Two rein positions for adjustable leverage Please note: for reasons of health and hygiene, this bit is non-returnable once removed from its template.

A bevel bit that allows mild leverage and a little more control, promoting responsiveness and correct head carriage. The double-jointed blue sweet iron mouthpiece with brass lozenge helps prevent pinching of the lips and bars of the mouth and reduces the nutcracker action of a single-jointed bit.Blue sweet iron oxidises easily, creating a warming sensation and a sweet taste in the horse's mouth that helps them accept the bit. The blue colour will fade with use, which is normal. Size: 5" Blue sweet iron double-jointed mouthpiece Brass alloy lozenge Please note: for reasons of health and hygiene, this bit is non-returnable once removed from its template.

A good choice for horses with a small mouth or a large tongue: the slight curve of the mouthpiece reduces nutcracker action and helps prevent the bit touching the palate. Fixed eggbutt cheeks reduce vibration down the reins for a more stable feel.A single joint puts pressure on the lips and bars of the mouth. The thinner mouthpiece gives a slightly stronger action but is still mild enough for novice riders. Made from stainless steel, which is durable, easy to clean, tasteless and does not rust. A great all-round bit suited to many horses. Sizes: 4.5", 5" and 5.25" Stainless steel single-jointed mouthpiece Fixed flat ring eggbutt cheeks Please note: for reasons of health and hygiene, this bit is non-returnable once removed from its template.

Useful for horses that tend to fix, grab or lean on the bit. Alternating copper and stainless steel rollers along the mouthpiece let the bit move in the horse's mouth, preventing them from grabbing or leaning on it.The single-jointed mouthpiece has a nutcracker action, applying pressure on the lips and bars of the mouth, and the dee ring cheeks can aid steering by backing up the rider's turning aids. Copper rollers react with saliva to encourage mouthing and acceptance of the bit. Made from stainless steel, which is durable, easy to clean, tasteless and does not rust. Size: 5" Copper and stainless steel rollers Dee ring cheeks Please note: for reasons of health and hygiene, this bit is non-returnable once removed from its template.

The Waterford mouthpiece is made of a series of ball-shaped links, making it completely movable in all directions. It's popular for combating leaning, taking hold of the bit and jaw setting, because the mouthpiece collapses when the horse tries to take hold, leaving nothing rigid to grab. The mouthpiece spreads pressure over the tongue and bars of the mouth. With simple loose ring cheeks, it's ideal for stronger horses that lean or take hold of the bit. Should be worn 1/4" to 1/2" wider than standard to work effectively. Size: 5.5" Waterford ball-link mouthpiece Loose ring cheeks Please note: for reasons of health and hygiene, this bit is non-returnable once removed from its template.

A Three Ring Dutch Gag has four rings in total, but only three where the reins can be attached, giving it its name. The top ring attaches to the bridle cheekpieces and the reins can be used on any of the three lower rings for a variety of leverage options. Also known as a continental bit, it raises the bit in the horse's mouth like a traditional gag, but without the same severity. Using the lower rings significantly increases poll pressure, so two reins or roundings on a single rein are recommended, allowing correct contact on the snaffle ring without poll pressure when needed. Sizes: 5" and 5.5" Copper lozenge mouthpiece Three rein positions for adjustable leverage

Pelhams are designed for use with two reins: one on the top (snaffle) ring and one on the bottom loose (curb) ring, used when extra leverage is needed. They can also be used with roundings on a single rein so the mouthpiece and curb act together. This double-jointed Pelham with copper lozenge has a milder action than some Pelhams, distributing pressure evenly across the tongue and bars while reducing the nutcracker action. Copper warms and encourages the horse to salivate and accept the bit. Double-jointed mouthpieces can affect how the curb comes into action, making it slightly less direct by putting more pressure on the bars of the mouth. Size: 5" Double-jointed mouthpiece with copper lozenge

A cross between an American gag and an elevator bit, the Tom Thumb offers more precision and control and is popular for show jumping and cross country. Its lifting effect in front can help the rider sit the horse back on its hocks for tighter turns and more efficient jumping. The uplifting action combined with poll pressure can discourage horses from leaning on the bit. It can be used with one rein on the snaffle ring or lower ring, or with two reins for increased precision. The copper lozenge contours the tongue and reduces the nutcracker action of a single-jointed bit, while copper encourages salivation and mouthing. Sizes: 5" and 5.5" Copper lozenge mouthpiece Useful for horses that lean on the rider's hands Please note: for reasons of health and hygiene, this bit is non-returnable once removed from its template.

A bevel bit that allows mild leverage and a little more control, promoting responsiveness and correct head carriage. With its brass alloy mouthpiece, it's an ideal choice for horses that need a touch more braking power but have sensitive mouths. The double-jointed mouthpiece helps prevent pinching of the lips and bars and reduces the nutcracker action of a single-jointed bit. A central lozenge spreads pressure over the tongue and bars, encouraging mouthing and contact. Brass alloy is a warm, durable material that can aid salivation and be more palatable to the horse. Size: 5" Brass alloy double-jointed mouthpiece with central lozenge Mild leverage bevel cheeks

A classic loose ring snaffle with a copper lozenge mouthpiece — one of the most widely used bit configurations in flatwork and general riding. The loose rings allow the bit to move freely in the horse's mouth, encouraging chewing and preventing the horse from leaning or fixing against the contact. The central copper lozenge promotes salivation and a wet, relaxed mouth. A straightforward, effective choice for the majority of horses in everyday work.Available in 5" and 5.5". Note: bits are non-returnable for hygiene reasons.

A well-made full cheek snaffle with a brass alloy lozenge mouthpiece, ideal for horses that respond well to a direct, clear contact. The full cheek configuration helps with lateral steering aids and prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The lozenge sits centrally in the mouth, reducing the nutcracker action and distributing pressure more evenly across the tongue and bars. The brass alloy encourages salivation and acceptance of the contact, promoting relaxation through the jaw.Available in 5" and 5.5". Suitable for flatwork and general schooling. Note: bits are non-returnable for hygiene reasons.
